...Found out a deep Nintendo Switch case fits my TX-500. Have the radio mounted via velcro to the shelf, which will tilt to different angles. Underneath, there is enough room for a 4.5Ah Bioenno, power cable, 61' wire (which is resonant on 40 and 20 with my Spark Plug EFHW), Digirig w/ cables, and mic. In the lid, I keep a couple RG174/316 jumpers, the Spark Plug, and some other odds and ends.
Buttons up into a nice compact unit for tossing in my SOTA pack. I can run that radio 9+ hours on that particular battery. Removing all the cables and such from that compartment allows me to store two them if needed. 📻📡🌎

BBC internet radio petition gathers pace

...A petition calling on the BBC to reinstate its internet radio stations to third-party apps has attracted nearly 2,000 signatures. The petition is asking the broadcaster to reverse its decision to remove BBC stations from TuneIn, a popular app for listening to live internet radio. The BBC removed its streams from the service at the end of September. In a blogpost at the time, the BBC said that it was making the move because services like TuneIn do not allow it to collect data on its streams. Kieran Clifton, the BBC's director of distribution and business development, said: "We want our programmes, products and services to be the best they can be. And a major way we ensure that is by using meaningful data. Pitcairn Island DXpedition

On October 10th, the following was posted on the Pitcairn Island DXpedition VP6R Web page  (  https://pitcairndx.com/news-and-updates ) [edited]: "I experienced a sudden and relatively severe, acute illness and  was hospitalized for a number of days.  I am recovering at home, but  the risk of compromising the DXpedition to Pitcairn Island is too great  for me to make the trip with the team.  My friend Glenn, W0GJ, will  take on my responsibilities and the DXpedition will proceed as otherwise planned. "Most team members will have begun their travels within the next 24-48 hours.  The October 15th flight to Mangareva and boarding of the Brave- heart remain on schedule. AMSAT at the Thunderbird Hamfest

... AMSAT  will be at the  Thunderbird Amateur Radio Club 's annual hamfest on the morning of Saturday, 11 January 2020. The hamfest will be at Glendale Nazarene Church, at the northwest corner of 59th Avenue and Cactus Road in Glendale, Arizona.  More information about the hamfest is available at:  http://www.tbirdfest.org/ Information about the Thunderbird Amateur Radio Club is available at: http://www.w7tbc.org/ WD9EWK  will be on the satellites during the hamfest, demonstrating satellite operating.  If you hear WD9EWK on a pass that morning, please call and join in the demonstration.  The hamfest site is in grid DM33, in Arizona's Maricopa County.  QSOs made during the hamfest will be uploaded to Logbook of the World, and QSL cards are available on request (please e-mail me directly with the QSO details).
